What is Wing Tai Ch'uan
Wing Tai Ch'uan is a combination of the essences and principles of two Chinese martial arts; namely Tai Chi Ch'uan and Wing Chun. The rooting of Wing Tai Ch'uan is Tai Chi as this develops through Chi Gungs the soft but strong internal Chi Energy, necessary to strengthen the internal body.
The Wing Chun element of the art is a highly effective Chinese system of self defence that is practical and achievable by all age groups and states of physical fitness.
Based on Wing Chun's principle of simultaneous attack and defence. When combined as in Wing Tai Ch'uan Gung Fu, an opponents strength is re-directed towards themselves and a no nonsense approach to self defence is applied, without excessive force. Being different from other martial art clubs, we see ourselves as a Gung-Fu School or Gwoon, like the path of the world famous Bruce Lee.
Student Development
We teach students Tai Chi first, to strengthen your internal body, then the principles of Wing Chun. By the time students reach Green sash level they are encouraged to look at Gung-Fu arts to grow and develop along their own path. At Red sash level, students are encouraged to persue at least one complimentary therapy, which indicates their caring side and respect for life.
So come down, everyone at the school is friendly and helpful and new students are always welcome.
